Q: Who are eTrikes for?

A: eTrikes may be operated by persons 16years or older. Refer to laws in your local jurisdiction for use by anyone under the age of 16yrs of age.

Q: Why own an eTrike?

A: Aside from being awesome, eTrikes are great to own:

  • If you want an easy, simple and eco-friendly way to travel around your town without a drivers license, insurance or registration.
  • If you need mobility assistance - our ETR100-300 models are ADA compliant. 
  • If you live in an area where parking or traffic congestion are issues and want a more efficient, yet stable way to get around.
  • If your business needs to provide local or campus transportation for your customers or employees. 

 

Q: What surfaces can eTrikes be driven on?

A: eTrikes are best suited for flat, hard compact surfaces such as bike lanes, paved bike paths, roads and sidewalks. eTrikes can also safely be ridden on hard compact natural surfaces like dirt, sand, gravel and grass.

Q: How are eTrikes powered?

A: eTrikes are all electric and powered by a lithium ion battery that propels a rear differential motor. 

Q: What is the mileage range on a full battery?

A: eTrikes can travel up to 50 miles on a full charge. 

Q: How are eTrikes charged?

A: eTrikes can be charged with the battery in the eTrike or out. There is a small plug-in on the left side of the driver’s seat where the charger can be plugged in and connected to a standard 110v wall outlet.

Q: How easy is it to recharge my eTrike? Do I need a special plug?

A: All eTrikes come with a charger that simply plugs into the eTrike or battery and into a standard 110v wall outlet. The charging device has a red light when empty and plugged in. Once charging is completed the red light will turn green and automatically stop charging the battery.

 

Q: How long will the eTrike battery last before I have to replace it?

A: eTrikes lithium ion battery is rated for 2-3 years with average use.

Q: What type of battery does an eTrike use?

A: eTrikes use a 48v 35ah lithium-ion battery. 

Q: Is there a cell phone holder and charger?

A: All eTrikes come standard with a cell phone holder and USB charging port. 

Q: How fast can eTrikes travel?

A: eTrikes have a 3 speed setting with a top speed of 18mph.

Q: What kind of license, insurance or registration is required to operate eTrikes?

A: No license, insurance or registration is required to operate eTrikes. At the present time, eTrikes must generally follow the same rules and regulations as pedal bicycles. As eTrikes are new to the vehicle landscape, please stay informed about the laws in your jurisdiction governing their operation. eTrikeCo also recommends visiting peopleforbikes.org and bikeleague.org for additional guidance.

 

Q: Where can eTrikes be operated?

A: At the present time, eTrikes must generally follow the same rules and regulations as pedal bikes.  Basically, eTrikes can be operated on sidewalks, bike lanes, residential streets and paved bike trails. As eTrikes are new to the vehicle landscape, please stay informed about the laws in your jurisdiction governing their operation. eTrikeCo also recommends visiting, peopleforbikes.org and bikeleague.org for additional guidance. 

 

Q: What are the advantages of eTrikes over eBikes and golf carts?

A: eTrikes are three wheeled making them more stable than bikes. They also have a low step through making them easier together on and off of. eTrikes also have onboard storage for carrying gear, bags, groceries, etc.

eTrikes are generally less expensive than golf carts and require less maintenance.  eTrikes do not require a license, registration or insurance to operate anywhere bikes are permitted, while such regulations vary for golf carts depending on location and their minimum and maximum speeds.  eTrikes may operate on sidewalks. bike lanes, bike paths where bikes are permitted, while golf carts may not. our ETR100-300 models are ADA compliant, fitting through standard doorways while golf carts are not. 

Q: Are eTrikes street legal?

A:  At the present time, eTrikes must generally follow the same rules and regulations as pedal bikes so, they are street legal. However, eTrikes are not permitted on highways, interstates, and major roads with speed limits higher than 30 miles per hour unless a bike lane is present.  

Q: Are eTrikes sidewalk legal?

It depends on the jurisdiction. eTrikes being used for mobility needs as an ADA    electric mobility device can be ridden on any sidewalks. For leisure purposes there could be more restrictions of use, depending on your local laws.

Q: Where may eTrikes be parked?

A: As with bikes, eTrikes may be parked in bike stands, vehicle parking spots, or anywhere not obstructing pedestrian walk ways, fire hydrants or entrances to businesses.

Q: How do I secure once I have it parked?

A: eTrikes are equipped with a key. Simply, turn on the emergency brake, turn off the eTrike, and take the key with you. For more security, users may purchase a regular bike lock to secure to a fixed object. 

Q: Will theme parks allow it?

A: If the eTrike is being used as an ADA electric mobility device, most theme parks will allow you to use them. However, you need to check with the theme park for guidelines and restrictions before use. 

Q: Does an e-Trike come in different colors?

A: We currently offer the following colors:

  • ETR100 - red and blue
  • ETR200 - white and red
  • ETR300 - brown and gray
  • ETR400 - red
  • ETR500HT - red

We hope to expand our color selection in the future. eTrikes can be wrapped or repainted if the buyer wishes.

Q: Once you buy one, can you customize the paint or trim?

A: We are unable to customize the paint but we work with a local vehicle graphics company who can wrap your eTrike for an additional cost.

Q: What is the load capacity on eTrikes?

A: Load capacity ranges:

  • ETR100-ETR300 - 770lbs
  • ETR400-ETR500HT - 990lbs
Q: Does it have a windshield and a rain cover?

A: Our ETR500HT can be purchased with a roof and windshield. All other models do not come equipped with windshield or rooftop. 

Q: How much do eTrikes weigh?

A: Weight of each model:

  • ETR100 - 265lbs
  • ETR200 - 275lbs
  • ETR300 - 285lbs
  • ETR400 - 375lbs
  • ETR500HT - 440lbs

 

Q: Can you break it down for travel?

A: eTrikes cannot be broken down for stowaway. If you have a tow hitch, a carrier can be purchased for transport. We recommend mightyhauler.com

Q: Is it safe for air travel with lithium ion batteries?

A: Lithium-ion batteries are not permitted on airplanes.

Q: What if I need repair?

A: If you are still covered by eTrikeCo warranty and need repair on your eTrike, please contact eTrikeCo support at support@etrikeco.com or 844-874-5326 ext. 703 to begin a repair request. If you are no longer covered under warranty, we are happy to assist you in locating services. 

Q: Where does eTrikeCo ship to?

A: At this time, eTrikeCo ships to states within the contiguous United States. We do not ship to Alaska, Hawaii or US territories. 

Q: What is the shipping cost?

A: eTrikeCo offers free shipping on all our products. 

Q: After I place my order for an eTrike, how long will delivery take?

A: If the product is in our current inventory, please allow up to 30 days for delivery from the time of purchase. If products are on back order, please allow up to 90 days for delivery from time of purchase. You will be notified of shipping status upon placing your order, or you may contact us directly at info@etrikeco.com for current inventory information. 

Q: What is your exchange policy?

A: We will replace items if they are defective or damaged. To exchange for the same item please send an email to support@etrikeco.com. In the event that you receive a defective or damaged product we will absorb the return shipping costs.

Q: What is your return policy?

A: We accept returns for up to 5 days after you have received your eTrike. After 5 days we are unable to offer a refund or an exchange. Please note:     

  • Contact support@etrikeco.com for returns. We ask that you contact us before returning your purchase.
  • To be eligible for a return your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it.
  • It must be returned in its original packaging.
  • You are responsible for paying your own shipping costs when returning an item.
  • The shipping costs we paid when we shipped your eTrike to you after purchase will be deducted from your refund.
  • We will receive and inspect your returned item, and email you to notify you that we have received your returned item. In that same email we will tell you if your refund is approved or rejected.

If approved for a refund, it will be processed within 7 days and returned back to your credit card or original payment method, minus the shipping costs from the time of your purchase.

Q: What is the address for returning an item to you?

A: Depending on your location, all returns must be shipped to either eTrikeCo Sonoma or eTrikeCo St. Petersburg.

Q: Do I have to assemble my new eTrike when it arrives?

A: No, your eTrike arrives fully assembled and ready to ride.

Q: Does my purchase include a warranty?

A: Yes, eTrikes come with a 3 to 12 month limited, non-transferable warranty. The warranty covers manufacturing defects and repairs, that are not the result of user abuse or neglect. Parts covered include motor, controller, battery and electronics. Not included are consumable items such as seats, tires, tubes, wheels, arm pads, arm rests and seat covers.
